Upcoming Evaluations/Season Info.
Dear Bruins Families,
We had a great first preseason skate with an excellent turn out!  As a reminder, these preseason skates are on Saturdays at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink in North Adams and will run through October 15. The regular season takes place on our home ice at the Boys and Girls Club of Pittsfield.
Squirts (birth years 2012-2013) 6:30-7:40
PeeWee and Bantam (birth years 2008-2011) 7:50-9:00
Please note October 1 is the program evaluation session, and any player wanting to play travel hockey MUST be at the evaluation.  We currently have low numbers of returning players in the Bantam division.  There may be options so please contact us (if you have not done so already) if your child is in this division. In order to plan our programming across all divisions it is essential for all interested players to attend evaluations. If you want to play travel hockey, but can't make the evaluation, please contact us no later than Sat Sept 24th at .
(*payment for these programs will occur at the time of registration through the Boys & Girls Club in mid October*)
Learn to Skate - $100. Includes 10 ice sessions total.  Learn to Skate (LTS) will start just after Thanksgiving with sign up coming later.
Mites (birth years 2014-2016) - $350. Includes 3 ice sessions per week.
House League (open birth years 2013 and older) - $150. Includes 2 ice sessions per week.
Travel teams (open to birth years 2013 and older) - $700.  Payment will include 4-5 ice sessions per week, and requires weekend travel to away games and 1 away tournament at Lake Placid (lodging costs are not included in your payment). Uniforms will be a separate cost this year (~$150). Registration for the Avon tournament will also be an extra expense (~$100 per player).
A note about travel team selection and commitment
As noted above any player wishing to do travel hockey must participate in the evaluation. Our independent evaluators will be meticulously assessing each player on fundamental hockey skills, in-game awareness, intangibles (listening, effort). These assessments will be used to place players. While our goal is to have as many players as possible playing travel hockey, it may not be possible if the numbers are awkward. The executive board has decided a team must have a minimum of 10 skaters (plus goalie) and can have a maximum of 15. Because it is possible that some players could be turned away, we ask for total commitment to the House League and are planning for a robust House League at the core of our program. We also want to emphasize the importance of commiting to a Bruins travel hockey team if selected, attending all practices, games, tournaments unless due to illness or other family emergency.  We will ask for those commitments quickly after the evaluation and team selection in order to place jersey orders ASAP and start planning the season.
