Boston Bruins | Learn to Skate Opportunity!!

We are excited to announce a great opportunity for kids ages 5-9 to be introduced to the great game of hockey.  In cooperation with Northern Berkshire Youth Hockey, our future Berkshire Bruins are invited to register for the Boston Bruins Academy Learn to Play Program

Each registrant will receive a full ensemble of hockey equipment and 4 weeks of on-ice training. All sessions will take place at 10:00 am at the North Adams rink beginning on October 9 and concluding on October 30.

As the program progresses through October, information will be provided on how to register your child to continue their development in skating and hockey with the Berkshire Bruins program at the Boys and Girls Club of the Berkshires.

Please share this opportunity to foster a love of skating and hockey with anyone you feel might be interested.

Pre-Season Skate

Hello Berkshire Bruins Families,

As we prepare for the upcoming season the Berkshire Bruins will begin our preseason skates this Sunday, 9/19. The first few preseason skates will be in North Adams at the Peter Foote Rink. We are anticipating that the Boys and Girls Club will have ice in mid- October.

The sessions will focus on skill development and be structured much like regular season practices.

Registration:

These preseason skates will be for registered 10U (squirts) 12U (peewee) 14U (bantam) players only.  Players must be registered with the Boys and Girls Club of the Berkshires before they will be allowed to participate.

Details:

Sunday September 19

Sunday September 26

Sunday October 3

10U 4:00-4:50

12U 5:00-5:50

14U 6:00-6:50

Covid considerations:

Presently the North Adams rink is requiring all people entering the building be masked regardless of vaccination status. This will also be required of players and coaches on the ice.  It is extremely important that we continue to follow best practices with regards Covid to help ensure all our players can enjoy a complete season.

If you have further questions, please contact the Berkshire Bruins through the contact page on the website. Looking forward to getting back on the ice!

2021 / 2022 Berkshire Bruins Hockey Registration

Dear Hockey Families,

We are excited to announce that registration for the 2021/2022 season will open on September 15th.  Please complete your registration via the Boys and Girls Club website.

To complete your registration with the Boys and Girls Club, you must be registered with USA Hockey and supply your confirmation number as part of the registration process.  As in years past, you must also register and maintain an annual membership with the Boys and Girls Club.

As we communicated with everyone in May 2021, we have made some updates to our program.  We are sharing some of the important updates below as reminder of how the program will operate this season:

  • Given the financial strain placed on families of goaltenders with respect to equipment and training, we have decided as an executive committee to waive all travel program fees for goaltenders.  This is for goaltenders who are selected to a travel team.  If you are aware of interested goaltenders at all age levels, please have them contact   directly.  All players will be required to pay the house league fee, USA Hockey Registration fee, and the Boys and Girls Club membership fee as part of the 2021-2022 program.
  • Our plan is to offer a robust house league as well as a travel program.  With respect to the travel program, we will be limiting rosters this year for all travel teams.  Teams will be limited to a minimum of 10 skaters and one goalie and a max of 13 skaters and two goalies.  We recognize this is a change for our program but feel that this programmatic change is in the best interest of developing both the house league program and the travel team program long term.  We will host player evaluations at the beginning of the year and be transparent about the development of any teams.

Based on these programmatic changes, we are asking you to only register and pay the house league fee, club membership fee, and USA Hockey registration fee at this time.  If a player is selected for a travel team, there will be a separate registration for the travel team and additional fees associated with the travel program.

Please register early.  We have reserved ice for pre-season ice skills sessions beginning September 19th.  You must be fully registered to participate in the pre-season skills sessions.  We are scheduled to hit the Boys and Girls Club ice in mid-October and will begin evaluations at that time for the travel programs.  The goal is to have travel teams selected and finalized prior to November 1st.

Lastly, we are anticipating some Covid-19 protocols at the Boys and Girls Club facility.  This is a dynamic situation, but we are confident that we will be able to offer our programming as outlined above and look forward to a fun and competitive hockey season.

Sincerely,

The Berkshire Bruins Youth Hockey Organization Executive Committee
